Russian FSB Detains Woman Suspected of Financing IS, Plotting Attack in Syria - Statement

Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) has detained a woman in the country's Astrakhan region on suspicions of financing the Islamic State (IS terror group, banned in Russia) and plotting a terror attack in Syria, the FSB said Friday

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 15th February, 2019) Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) has detained a woman in the country's Astrakhan region on suspicions of financing the Islamic State (IS terror group, banned in Russia) and plotting a terror attack in Syria, the FSB said Friday.

"Astrakhan region's resident, one of the organizers of an IS sleeper cell... was detained on the territory of the region," the FSB said, adding that the woman had been raising funds to finance terrorism in Moscow, Astrakhan, Tomsk and the North Caucasus Federal District.

The detainee wanted to go to Syria to carry out a terrorist attack, the FSB said.
