No Country Spoke Out in Defense of Iran During Mideast Conference in Warsaw - Pompeo

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said Thursday that no country spoke out in defense of Iran during the conference on the Middle East in Warsaw

WARSAW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 14th February, 2019) US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said Thursday that no country spoke out in defense of Iran during the conference on the middle East in Warsaw.

"There was not a defender of Iran in the room. No country. No country spoke out and denied any of the basic facts that we all have laid out about Iran: the threat that it poses, the nature of the regime. It was unanimous. Countries from Europe, from Asia, from all across the world - no one spoke out saying that the data on the threat the Iran poses to the Middle East is wrong," Pompeo said.

Earlier in the day, US Vice President Mike Pence warned Iran that additional sanctions would be imposed on the country unless Tehran changed its "dangerous and destabilizing" behavior.

The two-day global ministerial meeting on the Middle East, co-hosted by Poland and the United States, was held in Warsaw on Wednesday and Thursday. The conference addressed such issues as terrorism and extremism, missile proliferation, security and stability in the Middle East.

Russia, Turkey, Iran and Palestine did not participate. Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has criticized the event, calling it "anti-Iran conference," and slammed Poland for hosting the summit.
