Belarusian President May Join Leaders of Russia, Iran, Turkey in Sochi Talks - Kremlin

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko may join his colleagues from Russia, Iran and Turkey for talks after the completion of the trilateral summit in Sochi, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Thursday.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 14th February, 2019) Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko may join his colleagues from Russia, Iran and Turkey for talks after the completion of the trilateral summit in Sochi, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Thursday.

Peskov earlier said that later in the day, Russian President Vladimir Putin would have bilateral meetings with the presidents of Turkey and Iran, Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Hassan Rouhani, to discuss bilateral relations. After these meetings, a trilateral summit Russia-Turkey-Iran will take place, where the presidents will continue to discuss joint actions to resolve and stabilize the situation in Syria with a focus on intensifying efforts to reach a political and diplomatic settlement and the earliest possible launch of the constitutional committee.

"In the evening, at the end of the tripartite summit, we do not rule out that Alexander Lukashenko may join the presidents of Russia, Turkey and Iran. This has nothing to do with the Syrian settlement, the president provided for such an opportunity that Lukashenko could communicate with his colleagues, using the opportunity of being here, in Sochi, simultaneously with them," Peskov said.

He also noted that following the trilateral meeting, Putin, Erdogan and Rouhani will give a joint press conference.

Russia, Turkey and Iran are guarantors of the ceasefire in Syria.
