Russian Justice Ministry Flags Rights Nonprofit as Foreign Agent
Russia's Justice Ministry has added a nonprofit organization called For Human Rights to its list of foreign agents, the ministerial press office said in a statement to Sputnik on Wednesday
MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 13th February, 2019) Russia's Justice Ministry has added a nonprofit organization called For Human Rights to its list of foreign agents, the ministerial press office said in a statement to Sputnik on Wednesday.
"On February 12, 2019, the Justice Ministry added the All-Russian Civil Movement for Human Rights to the register of nonprofit organizations acting as a foreign agent under the Federal law on nonprofits," it reads.
The organization is run by Lev Ponomaryov, a former lawmaker turned political and civil rights activist. His movement was briefly blacklisted in 2014. The Justice Ministry has conducted a new probe which established that this time the nonprofit met all criteria of a foreign agent.
