Butina's Lawyer Hopes She Will Receive Sentencing in March, to Be Home Within 4-6 Weeks
MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 08th February, 2019) Robert Driscol, the lawyer of Russian national Maria Butina, jailed in the United States, said in an interview with RT he hoped that sentencing in her case would be issued in March and she will be home within four to six weeks.
"Her plea agreement is done. She has been telling the government what little she knows.
And we're hoping to have a sentencing set in the next month and hoping she will be home fairly soon after that. I'm hopeful that she'll be home within a month or six weeks," Driscol said.
The lawyer noted that Butina had pleaded guilty "to a very obscure US statute for essentially acting as an agent of a foreign official."
"It had nothing to do with covert operations or with undermining America," the lawyer explained.
