MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 07th January, 2019) Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill has wished merry Christmas to Russian cosmonaut Oleg Kononenko, who is currently on the International Space Station (ISS), the patriarch's press service told Sputnik on Monday.

"Communication session has passed successfully," the press service said.

The patriarch called Kononenko from his residency, and their conversation lasted for around 10 minutes, the press service specified.

Christmas wishes from the patriarch to Russian cosmonauts is a long-established tradition. Previously, there has also been a tradition under which Father Frost visited the mission control center of the Russian Federal Space Agency to communicate with the ISS crew.

There is currently only one crew of three people at the ISS, who arrived there on December 3, 2018. Kononenko is accompanied by Canadian astronaut David Saint-Jacques and US astronaut Anne McClain.
