Russia-Croatia Annual Trade Could Grow to $3Bln in Short Term - Russian Ambassador

The annual trade between Russia and Croatia has a good chance of growing from about $2 billion in 2018 to $3 billion in the near future, Russian Ambassador in Zagreb Anvar Azimov told Sputnik on Monday.

BELGRADE (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 24th December, 2018) The annual trade between Russia and Croatia has a good chance of growing from about $2 billion in 2018 to $3 billion in the near future, Russian Ambassador in Zagreb Anvar Azimov told Sputnik on Monday.

"Together with gas supplies, this year, our trade already stands at about $2 billion. But there are chances to increase it. Of course, [the progress] is largely hampered by the policy of sanctions, which has an especially negative impact on the delivery of Croatian agricultural products to Russia.

But there are other areas of possible cooperation in a number of other sectors, which will allow us to reach $3 billion in the near term," Azimov said.

According to the Russian Embassy, Russia-Croatia trade, excluding imports of Russian gas, has reached $1.5 billion this year, which the ambassador said was "a very good indicator."

Azimov stressed that the increased political contacts between Moscow and Zagreb had given significant impetus to the strengthening of their economic ties.
