Russian Gov't to Support Miners Affected by Fire in Solikamsk If Necessary - Press Service

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said Saturday that the federal authorities would provide assistance to the miners affected by the incident in Solikamsk if necessary, the government's press service said.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 22nd December, 2018) Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said Saturday that the Federal authorities would provide assistance to the miners affected by the incident in Solikamsk if necessary, the government's press service said.

Earlier in the day, a methan-related fire occurred in a mine belonging to Russia's potash producer Uralkali in the Russian city of Solikamsk, the Perm Territory.

At least nine people remain blocked in the mine, according to Uralkali.

"During the telephone conversation, [Perm Territory Governor] Maxim Reshetnikov informed the head of the government about the measures taken by the regional authorities and the relevant services in connection with the emergency ... Dmitry Medvedev stressed that, if necessary, the federal authorities will provide comprehensive assistance to miners and their families," the press service told reporters.
