Cybercrime Victimizes Nearly 1 in 4 US Households in 2018 - Report

Nearly a quarter of Americans say they or a household member has had personal, credit card or financial information stolen by computer hackers in 2018, according to a survey published by Gallup on Tuesday.

WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 11th December, 2018) Nearly a quarter of Americans say they or a household member has had personal, credit card or financial information stolen by computer hackers in 2018, according to a survey published by Gallup on Tuesday.

"Twenty-three percent say that they or someone in their household fell victim to this type of cybercrime in 2018, little changed from 25 percent who reported being so targeted last year," Gallup said in a press release.

In addition, 16 percent of cybercrime victims reported that their identities had been stolen, the release said.

Cybercrime was the most commonly reported of seven other physical or property crimes in Gallup's 2018 survey, which included burglary, robbery, physical and sexual assault, according to the release.
