A major trade war is underway in the world, and it has already led to a global economic slowdown, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said on Thursday

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 06th December, 2018) A major trade war is underway in the world, and it has already led to a global economic slowdown, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said on Thursday.

"We must admit that because of this major trade war that has unfolded in the world, the world growth rates have also fallen," Medvedev said in an interview for Russian tv channels.

He noted that the growth rate in January-October in Russia amounted to approximately 1.7 percent.

"We expected this figure. It is small, but, nevertheless, the growth continues, and this growth corresponds to the situation in European countries, for example," Medvedev said.

He added that by 2020, Russia aimed to reach a higher growth rate about 2 percent and 3 percent in 2021.
