Russia's space corporation Roscosmos and Greece's new Hellenic Space Agency will sign a cooperation agreement during Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras' visit to Moscow later this week, an adviser to Tsipras on Russian issues, told Sputnik on Tuesday.

ATHENS (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 04th December, 2018) Russia's space corporation Roscosmos and Greece's new Hellenic Space Agency will sign a cooperation agreement during Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras' visit to Moscow later this week, an adviser to Tsipras on Russian issues, told Sputnik on Tuesday.

According to Dimitris Velanis, a number of agreements will be signed during the Greek prime minister's visit on Friday.

"But I would like to focus on one agreement, which has been worked through and will be signed between the new Greek space agency Hellenic Space Agency and Roscosmos.

A similar agreement was signed earlier between Roscosmos and Aristotle University of Thessaloniki," Velanis said.

The cooperation between Greece and Russia was now being expanded so that the Greek space agency could "use Roscosmos' extensive experience and potential in various areas," he added.

The Hellenic Space Agency was officially launched in late March with the objective of "playing the role of the central router for space."
