Putin Urges to Consider All Views When Developing Paris Agreement Implementation Rules

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday noted the importance of taking into account the opinions of all stakeholders of the Paris Agreement when coming up with the rules on the implementation of the climate change deal.

BUENOS AIRES (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 30th November, 2018) Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday noted the importance of taking into account the opinions of all stakeholders of the Paris Agreement when coming up with the rules on the implementation of the climate change deal.

On Saturday, the leaders of the G20 countries, will discuss the prospects of implementing the Paris Agreement on climate change at their summit in Argentina.

"We welcome the entry into force of the Paris Climate Agreement and consider it a reliable international legal instrument for long-term climate regulation. It is fundamentally important to complete the formation of a set of rules on its implementation, taking into account the views of all stakeholders," Putin said at the meeting of the BRICS leaders on the sidelines of the G20 summit in the Argentine capital.

The Paris climate deal, created within the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, went into force on November 4, 2016. It has been ratified by 184 of the 197 parties to the accord. The deal aims at keeping the increase in average global temperature at below 2 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels by means of reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
