Russian Consulate General Confirms US Indicted 6 Russians on Caber Fraud Charges

NEW YORK (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 28th November, 2018) The Russian Consulate General in New York confirmed in a statement on Tuesday that six Russian citizens have been indicted by the US authorities on charges of cyber fraud.

"According to US Justice Department, on November 27 Brooklyn Federal court unsealed indictments against six Russian nationals, who were arrested earlier in Malaysia, Bulgaria and Estonia, on a number of cyber fraud charges. At press time, they await extradition to the United States," the Consulate General said via Twitter on Tuesday.

Earlier on Tuesday, the US Justice Department unsealed the indictments against six citizens of Russia and two citizens of Kazakhstan on cyber fraud charges totalling over 36 million Dollars.

The defendants are Russia's Alexander Zhukov, Boris Timokhin, Mikhail Andreyev, Denis Avdeyev, Dmitry Novikov, Alexander Isayev and Kazakhstan citizens Sergey Ovsyannikov and Evgeniy Timchenko.

The Russian Consulate General said that it is following the situation closely and holding it under control.

According to court documents, Ovsyannikov, Zhukov and Timchenko have been arrested and await extradition, while the other defendants remain at large.
