European Council to Hold Meeting to Finalize Terms for Brexit

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 25th November, 2018) The EU leaders will hold a special meeting in Brussels on Sunday at which they are expected to endorse the Brexit withdrawal agreement and approve the draft political declaration outlining the future EU-UK relations.

The summit was called by European Council President Donald Tusk on November 15 after EU chief Brexit negotiator Michel Barnier presented him with a draft text agreed with the United Kingdom.

The participants of the summit will exchange views with European Parliament President Antonio Tajani, hold a working session and meet with UK Prime Minister Theresa May. Tusk and European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker will then hold a press conference.

Tusk has pledged to recommend that the European Union approved the Brexit deal on Sunday, stressing, however, that "no one will have reasons to be happy on that day."
