Iraq, Russia Agree Coordination in Oil-and-Gas Sector - Iraqi Finance Ministry

BAGHDAD (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 21st November, 2018) Iraq and Russia agreed on Wednesday to coordinate actions in the oil-and-gas sector, the Iraqi Finance Ministry said in a statement obtained by Sputnik.

According to the statement, Iraqi Finance Minister Fuad Hussein met with the Russian delegation, led by Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov, in Baghdad earlier in the day.

"The parties agreed on high-level coordination between Baghdad and Moscow in the oil-and- gas sector," the statement said.

According to the statement, Hussein noted that the Iraqi government program stipulates the transition of the country from a gas importing country to a gas exporter.

"The minister thanked the Russian companies operating in Iraq for their role and efforts, stressing Baghdad's readiness to help them overcome difficulties, if they arise," the statement said.
