Antares Rocket Launches Cygnus Cargo Spacecraft to ISS From Spaceport in Virginia - NASA

The Antares launch vehicle with the Cygnus cargo spacecraft, which will deliver more than 3 tonnes of cargo to the International Space Station (ISS), was launched from the Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia, according to NASA's launch broadcast.

WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 17th November, 2018) The Antares launch vehicle with the Cygnus cargo spacecraft, which will deliver more than 3 tonnes of cargo to the International Space Station (ISS), was launched from the Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia, according to NASA's launch broadcast.

The launch was conducted at 04:01 a.m. local time (09:01 GMT) on Saturday. The arrival of the cargo ship on the ISS is scheduled for Monday.

The launch of the US cargo ship to the ISS was previously twice postponed due to adverse weather conditions.

Both Antares and Cygnus are owned by aerospace and defense company Northrop Grumman, which acquired its competitor Orbital ATK last year. This is the eleventh flight of Cygnus to the ISS and the first under Northrop Grumman control.

After the 2014 accident, the Antares carrier rocket was equipped with Russian RD-181 engines, its flights were resumed in 2016.
