Abe Holds Phone Talks on Bilateral Ties With Trump in Wake of US Midterm Vote - Reports

TOKYO (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 09th November, 2018) Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe held a telephone conversation with US President Donald Trump, during which the two high-ranked politicians discussed bilateral cooperation following the US midterm elections, media reported on Friday.

Abe and Trump had reaffirmed their willingness for close cooperation on North Korea and the strengthening of US-Japanese alliance in the wake of the US vote, the Japanese Kyodo news agency reported.

The United States held its midterm elections, with the vote carried out on the Federal, state and local levels at the same time, on Tuesday. As a result of the Congress elections, the Democratic Party won the House race, while the Republicans retained their majority in the Senate.
