Diab bin Mohamed inaugurates ‘International Conference on Future Mobility’

ABU DHABI, (Pakistan Point News - 07th Nov, 2018) H.H. Sheikh Diab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Department of Transport, said that the smart transportation sector is a key pillar of the future economy and is an important factor in achieving sustainable development.

He added that smart technology will make a significant and positive impact on the future of transport in Abu Dhabi, in line with the vision of the wise leadership and its plans to achieve comprehensive economic development and sustainability, as well as to employ advanced technologies to serve people and ensure their well-being, security and safety, and protect the environment.

His Highness made this statement while inaugurating the 4th International Conference on Future Mobility, ICFM, which began today at the Saint Regis Hotel in Abu Dhabi and is being attended by senior officials, representatives of foreign and Arab governments, and experts in smart transport, telecommunications, energy, the environment, research and legislation.

The two-day conference was organised by the Emirates Authority for Standardisation and Metrology, ESMA, in cooperation with the Transport Department, and will witness the participation of 450 experts and specialists in the manufacturing of smart vehicles and advanced technologies, who are representing over 175 government and private entities from 18 countries.

Abdullah Al Maeeni, Director-General of ESMA, stated that the Gulf Cooperation Council, GCC, has adopted an Emirati project related to electric vehicles, which will be implemented by six countries. Relevant GCC authorities will provide electric vehicles conformity certificates, he added.

He also stressed that the event will discuss the opportunities and challenges of this promising sector while noting that artificial intelligence, AI, has become a key pillar of the conference in terms of vehicle manufacturing and sustainable infrastructure. The fourth edition of the conference is being held under the slogan, "AI and Future Movement," he said in conclusion.
