Presidential Election in Madagascar to Take Place Wednesday
MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 07th November, 2018) Madagascar will go to the polls on Wednesday for a presidential election, with record 36 candidates seeking to be elected for a five-year term.
Hery Rajaonarimampianina, the country's president since 2014, stepped down in September to run for re-election, in accordance with the constitution of Madagascar.
Among other candidates, there are also ex-presidents Marc Ravalomanana, Andry Rajoelina and Didier Ratsiraka, as well as former prime ministers.
Rajaonarimampianina, Rajoelina and Ravalomanana are considered front-runners of the vote, according to recent polls and observers.
The possible second round is slated for December 19.
