ADM holds workshop for construction entities

Abu Dhabi, (Pakistan Point News - 04th Nov, 2018) The Abu Dhabi City Municipality, ADM, has organised a workshop entitled, 'Registration and Accreditation of Entities in Building and Construction Sector'. The workshop sought to improve the awareness and compliance with the Abu Dhabi Occupational Safety and Health System Framework, OSHAD SF, which plays a pivotal role in improving the standards and practices of occupational health and safety in the building and construction sector in Abu Dhabi.

Held by ADM’s Environment, Health and Safety Division, the workshop targets all entities operating in the building and construction sector, including contractors, consultants and developers in Abu Dhabi City. The aim is to educate those entities about the requirements of registration procedures for full compliance with OSHAD SF requirements.

Commenting on the programme, Dr. Huda Al Salmi, Director of the Environment, Health and Safety at the Municipality, said, "Since 2009, the Government of Abu Dhabi emirate has been working hard to promote the working conditions, occupational safety and workers’ health in the emirate.

Such efforts were culminated by the issuance of Resolution No. 42 of 2009 regarding the Environment, Health and Safety Management System. It laid the foundation for developing the occupational health and safety, currently known as OSHAD SF, to ensure safe and healthy workplaces for all. It requires developing an occupational health and safety management system that nurtures a safe and healthy working environment that surpasses the world’s best practices."

"The advantages of the OSHAD SF for companies include reducing accidents and injuries, cutting financial costs, enhancing compliance with laws and legal requirements, and polishing the image and reputation of the company," she added.

"The Municipality looks forward to continuing cooperation with all concerned parties in taking all appropriate preventive measures to maintain safe and healthy workplaces, protect the environment and encourage workers to improve their occupational health and safety culture," said Dr. Al Salmi.
