NATO Chief Stoltenberg Hopes Russia, US to Find Way to Keep New START Treaty After 2021

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg expressed hope Wednesday that Russia and the United States would manage to find a way to preserve the New Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (START) after 2021.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 24th October, 2018) NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg expressed hope Wednesday that Russia and the United States would manage to find a way to preserve the New Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (START) after 2021.

"We believe in arms control that must be balanced and verifiable and, therefore, welcome the fact that one of the issues which are now discussed between the United States and Russia, which are the parties to the New START agreement, is how to address the fact that they need a new decision to maintain the New START after 2021. I hope that they will find a way to do so, because arms control is a way to avoid a new arms race," Stoltenberg stressed.
