Israel to 'Take Very Strong Action' to End Attacks From Gaza Strip - Netanyahu

TEL AVIV (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 17th October, 2018) Israel will act strongly to put an end to attacks on its territory from the Gaza Strip, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed on Wednesday amid the growing tensions at the Gaza border.

Earlier in the day, the Israeli prime minister held a security assessment at the headquarters of the Israel Defense Forces's Gaza Division. he was accompanied by a number of the country's high-ranking security and military officials.

"Israel views with utmost gravity the attacks against it on the fence, on the area adjacent to the Gaza Strip, on Be'er Sheva - everywhere.

I said, at the start of the weekly Cabinet meeting, that if these attacks do not stop - we will stop them ... I want to tell you today as well - Israel will take very strong action," Netanyahu said, as quoted in a statement issued by his press service.

Tensions between the Israelis and the Palestinians near the Gaza border have been mounting since late March, which marked the beginning of the Great March of Return. The recent disturbances on the Israeli-Gaza border have been caused by continued shelling and the launch of arson balloons by Hamas militants into Israeli territories.
