Russian Embassy Demands Proof From UK Foreign Office Over New Cyberattack Claims

The Russian Embassy in the UK on Friday sent a note to the UK Foreign Office demanding that London immediately share the facts that led the UK authorities to conclusions about the alleged attempts by Moscow to conduct cyberattacks against London, the embassy's spokesman told reporters.

LONDON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 05th October, 2018) The Russian Embassy in the UK on Friday sent a note to the UK Foreign Office demanding that London immediately share the facts that led the UK authorities to conclusions about the alleged attempts by Moscow to conduct cyberattacks against London, the embassy's spokesman told reporters.

The UK Foreign Office said on Thursday that London assessed "with high confidence" that the Russian military intelligence service GRU was "almost certainly" responsible for a series of cyberattacks on political institutions, media outlets and infrastructure across the globe, including in the United Kingdom, and planned to respond to it together with allies.

"The embassy sent a note to the British Foreign Office today with the demand to immediately share with Russia the facts that had led to such conclusions. We reminded them, in particular, that we had repeatedly offered the British side to arrange expert consultations aimed at easing concerns over cybersecurity issues, if such concerns do really exist," the spokesman said.
