MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 05th October, 2018) South Korean President Moon Jae-in on Friday held talks with Russian upper house speaker Valentina Matviyenko to discuss Moscow-Seoul relations as well as the situation on the Korean Peninsula, the South Korean presidential office said in a statement.

Matviyenko started her three-day official visit to South Korea on Thursday.

"President Moon Jae-in today received ... Russian Federation Council speaker Valentina Matviyenko, who is paying an official visit to the country at the invitation of the South Korean parliament.

The sides exchanged views on ways to advance friendly relations between the Republic of Korea and Russia, as well as the situation on the Korean Peninsula," the statement on the presidential administration's official Facebook account read.

In September, Matviyenko paid an official visit to North Korea where she met with the country's leadership, including North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.
