Manarat Al Saadiyat launches new Photography Studio

The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, DCT Abu Dhabi, and Manarat Al Saadiyat have announced the launch of a new Photography Studio that will contribute to enhancing the photography scene and fostering talent within the emirate’s photography community.

ABU DHABI, (Pakistan Point News - 26th Sep, 2018) The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, DCT Abu Dhabi, and Manarat Al Saadiyat have announced the launch of a new Photography Studio that will contribute to enhancing the photography scene and fostering talent within the emirate’s photography community.

Opening on 3rd of October, the Photography Studio is designed to support an inspiring community of photographers. In line with Manarat Al Saadiyat’s overall mission to foster a thriving creative community in Abu Dhabi that engages residents and tourists and highlights the emirate’s rich cultural diversity and historic heritage, the studio will also host a vibrant annual programme including exhibitions, workshops, master classes, as well as the establishment of a dedicated space for the art of photography.

Commenting on the announcement, Alia Khalid Al Qassimi, Head of Manarat Al Saadiyat, said, "Developing the professional growth of artistic talent in Abu Dhabi and beyond is one of our mandates at Manarat Al Saadiyat and we strive to nurture an artistic environment that invites and encourages talent at all levels to enjoy, learn and further their skills at our cultural centre.

Based at Manarat Al Saadiyat, in Saadiyat Island’s Cultural District, the Photography Studio will offer an essential platform for photography enthusiasts, professionals and artists to improve their skills, expose them to new techniques and the latest approaches in the field, and assist them in maintaining a steady and professional growth of their talent.

The launch of the studio will be accompanied with the opening of a solo exhibition displaying the works of Emirati photographer Jassim Al Awadhi, who has received a lifetime appreciation award for this photography from President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, for his photography work. The opening will also feature a talk by Al Awadhi about his journey as a pioneer photographer in the UAE. The studio will also be introducing a public programme consisting of year-round Calendar of activities, workshops, public talks, photography expeditions with the community, portfolio review sessions, exclusive one to one courses and community-driven photography exhibitions.
