Manafort's Plea Deal 'Has Nothing to Do' With Trump - Giuliani

The White House believes former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort's plea agreement is completely unrelated to President Donald Trump and the election campaign, his attorney Rudolph Giuliani said in a statement on Friday.

WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 14th September, 2018) The White House believes former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort's plea agreement is completely unrelated to President Donald Trump and the election campaign, his attorney Rudolph Giuliani said in a statement on Friday.

"Once again an investigation has concluded with a plea having nothing to do with President Trump or the Trump campaign," the statement said.

He added Trump has not been involved in any wrongdoing and suggested Manafort would tell the truth to the Federal prosecutors.

Earlier in the day, Manafort entered a guilty plea in the federal case brought by Special Counsel Robert Mueller.

The plea deal, which was announced in the District Court in Washington, includes cooperation with the FBI on the investigation into Russia's role in the 2016 US presidential election.

Manafort admitted to committing federal crimes and will now forfeit nearly $ 46 million assets, which includes the money he earned from consultancy work in Ukraine and $15 million in taxes, which the defendant had not disclosed.

Manafort became the third Trump's associate who agreed to plead guilty in the Russia probe.
