UPDATE-2 - Car Bomb Explosion Near Local Government Office in Mogadishu Leaves 6 Dead - Reports

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 10th September, 2018) At least six people died as result of a car bombing in the Somalian capital of Mogadishu, local media reported Monday.

The Garowe online outlet reported that nearby buildings have collapsed due to the explosion.

The media reported that the Al-Shabab group, which has sworn allegiance to the Al Qaeda terrorist organization (banned in Russia), has claimed responsibility for the attack.

The African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) has condemned the deadly attack.

"AMISOM condemns the terrorist attack on Hodan district offices which claimed the lives of innocent civilians and destroyed property," the African Union said, as quoted by Garowe.

This is the second such attack in September.

Somalia has been engulfed in violence since the eruption of a civil war between clan-based armed factions in the early 1990s.
