Troops to Practice Massive Airstrikes, Missile Defense at Vostok Drills - General Staff

Active phase of Russia's Vostok-2018 military drills will be divided into two stages, the exercises will include training for massive airstrikes, missile defense, attacks on groups of vessels and will involve robots and drones, Chief of the Russian General Staff Valery Gerasimov said Thursday.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 06th September, 2018) Active phase of Russia's Vostok-2018 military drills will be divided into two stages, the exercises will include training for massive airstrikes, missile defense, attacks on groups of vessels and will involve robots and drones, Chief of the Russian General Staff Valery Gerasimov said Thursday.

According to the official, the active phase of the Vostok-2018 drills on September 11-17 will be held in two stages. The first stage will last two days, during which the commands will complete planning and preparations of troops for military operations, organizing coordination and all-round support.

The second stage is due to last five days, during which servicemen would practice in accordance with the decisions taken by the commands.

Troops are expected to train in launching massive airstrikes, countering cruise missiles, attacking groups of vessels, carrying out defensive, offensive, raid and other operations.

The most dynamic military actions are expected to take place at the Tsugol range, where three units of Russia's Eastern Military District together with units of the Chinese People's Liberation Army and the Mongolian Armed Forces would counter two armies of Russia's Central Military District. The war games are expected to largely involve robotics, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), paratroopers and practice of other tactic methods.
