Russian Lawmaker Calls French Report on Media Attempt to Promote One 'Correct' Position

Senior Russian lawmaker Konstantin Kosachev on Wednesday described a French report on propaganda in media, which recommended that journalists from the RT broadcaster and Sputnik news agency be denied accreditation, as an attempt to promote a singular point of view that it deemed accurate.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 05th September, 2018) Senior Russian lawmaker Konstantin Kosachev on Wednesday described a French report on propaganda in media, which recommended that journalists from the RT broadcaster and Sputnik news agency be denied accreditation, as an attempt to promote a singular point of view that it deemed accurate.

The report titled 'Information Manipulation: a Challenge for Our Democracies" was issued on Tuesday by two French government think tanks.

"Apparently this is about promoting a 'singular correct' point of view .

.. and resort to the favorite tool of authoritarian countries of banning dissenting media [outlets] from being registered," Kosachev, who is the head of the Russian Federation Council's committee on foreign affairs, said in a post on Facebook.

Igor Morozov, a member of the Russian upper house's information policy commission, told Sputnik earlier on Wednesday that Russia could take retaliatory measures against French state-owned media if RT and Sputnik were denied accreditation in France.
