Lavrov Slams Idea to Organize Normandy Format Meeting After DPR Leader's Murder
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov blasted on Tuesday the idea to organize a Normandy format meeting on Donbas crisis settlement after the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) leader Alexander Zakharchenko's murder last week.
NOVOSIBIRSK (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 04th September, 2018) Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov blasted on Tuesday the idea to organize a Normandy format meeting on Donbas crisis settlement after the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) leader Alexander Zakharchenko's murder last week.
Earlier Tuesday, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin said that there is no alternative to the Normandy format.
"We do not reject the Normandy format, but now it would be just inappropriate and sacrilegious to organize this Normandy format [meeting], especially when neither Berlin nor Paris expressed their condemnation of this political assassination that took place in Donetsk," Lavrov said on Russia's Channel One.
