Ministry of Interior launches fourth traffic awareness campaign in 2018

The Federal Traffic Council of the Ministry of Interior launched its fourth traffic awareness campaign this year, under the theme, "Back to School," to coincide with the start of the new school year that starts on Sunday.

DUBAI, (Pakistan Point News - 30th Aug, 2018) The Federal Traffic Council of the Ministry of Interior launched its fourth traffic awareness campaign this year, under the theme, "Back to School," to coincide with the start of the new school year that starts on Sunday.

The three-month campaign is one of the initiatives of the ministry’s "Traffic Sector," which aim to combine the efforts of the entire community to raise the awareness of school students from various grades, especially children, about traffic accidents and how to follow road and traffic rules, as well as to ensure their safety.

Major General Eng. Counsellor Mohammed Saif Al Zafeen, Dubai Police Assistant Commander-in-Chief of Operations and Chairman of the Federal Traffic Council, said that the campaign highlights the ministry’s strategy, which is based on the federal government’s relevant strategy and the directives of the police leadership, to ensure the highest levels of traffic safety for the general public, especially school students, and is part of the sector’s strategic plan to control road security, promote traffic safety, and limit the number of traffic accidents.

During a press conference that was held at the Dubai Police Officer’s Club, he stated that school students are a key part of the country’s social development and should be protected. Despite the preventive measures to protect them from various dangers, there is a need for greater awareness and guidance for some parents and those relevant to their safety, to protect them from traffic accidents and other road-related dangers, he added.

Major General Al Zafeen explained that the campaign is being implemented in cooperation and coordination with traffic and patrol departments around the country, as well as the Ministry of education, the Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development, Emirates Transport, the Roads and Transport Authority, RTA, in Dubai, the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, the General Women’s Union, and other relevant authorities from the public and private sectors, which support initiatives that promote road safety and prevent accidents. There is also a need for greater awareness and guidance, to promote traffic safety among students and bus and vehicle drivers, he said in conclusion.
