Supporters of Romania, Moldova Unification to Hold Rally in Chisinau Saturday - Organizers
The Alliance of the Century, advocating unification of Moldova and Romania, said on Wednesday that it will hold a mass rally in the Moldovan capital city Chisinau on Saturday.
CHISINAU (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 29th August, 2018) The Alliance of the Century, advocating unification of Moldova and Romania, said on Wednesday that it will hold a mass rally in the Moldovan capital city Chisinau on Saturday.
"The Alliance of the Century is organizing a very important event for all citizens of Moldova ... We promised on March 25 that we will return to the Great National Assembly square in Chisinau on September 1 at 12:00 p.m. local time [09:00 GMT].
The time has come," the organizers said in a post on Facebook.
A rally in support of Moldova's unification with Romania was held in Chisinau on March 25, and ended with protesters adopting a declaration in favor of reunification. Moldova's General Police Inspectorate (GPI) Deputy Director Gheorghe Cavcaliuc told Sputnik that approximately 7,000 people took part in the rally.
Moldovan President Igor Dodon earlier suggested to hold a referendum banning the idea of unification.
