Attorney Michael Cohen's Trial Does Not Affect Trump's Approval Rating - Poll

US President Donald Trump's approval rating continues to be steady despite his former personal attorney Michael Cohen admissions of transgressions, a new poll by Harvard CAPS/Harris revealed on Monday.

WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 27th August, 2018) US President Donald Trump's approval rating continues to be steady despite his former personal attorney Michael Cohen admissions of transgressions, a new poll by Harvard CAPS/Harris revealed on Monday.

Last Monday, Cohen admitted under oath that Trump knew about the money paid to former pornography star Stormy Daniels in exchange for her silence about having an affair.

Cohen pleaded guilty the following day to five counts of tax evasion, one count of making a false statement to a bank and two campaign finance violations.

However, Cohen's statements and his pleading guilty did not change the Americans' confidence in Trump, the poll said.

Trump's approval rating stands at 46 percent, which is in line with the approval rating recorded in July, The Hill, which ordered the poll, said.

About a fifth of the poll respondents said Congress should formally reprimand Trump, while 46 percent said they think lawmakers should not take action against the US president, according to the poll results.

The poll also showed that 40 percent of registered voters acknowledged that Democrats may vote to impeach Trump if they regain control of Congress I the mid-term election in November.
