WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 21st August, 2018) The United States and Brazil have signed a data-sharing agreement to enhance space cooperation, US Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM) announced in a press release on Monday.

"Cooperation and partnerships such as these is vital for the United States and our allies to maintain effective space situational awareness and for everyone to continue to benefit from the critical domain that is space," Rear Adm. Richard A. Correll, director of plans and policy for USSTRATCOM, said in the release. "These agreements build our relationships and provide insights to allow us to be more effective in space.

The United States already has similar partnerships with 14 other countries, including the United Kingdom, France, Canada, Italy, Japan and Israel, as well as with two intergovernmental organizations and over 70 commercial satellite operators, according to the release.

Data-sharing agreements strengthen multinational space cooperation and are crucial for launch support and other space-related issues, including satellite maneuver planning and electromagnetic interference reporting and investigation, according to STRATCOM.

The global responsibilities of the Strategic Command include strategic deterrence, nuclear operation and space operations.
