Ex-Reagan Advisor Massie Plans to Make Video Edition of Her Bestselling Book About Russia

WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 14th August, 2018) Suzanne Massie, advisor to former US President Ronald Reagan, told Sputnik that she plans to create a video adaptation of her bestselling book "The Land of the Firebird: The Beauty of Old Russia."

"My hopeful project is a video adaptation of my book," Massie said on Monday.

Massie noted that the book provides a cultural history of Russia and has been reprinted 37 years in row.

"It means that many Americans are interested in Russia and Russian culture," Massie said.

The video version of the book, Massie added, may attract even more attention about Russia in the United States.

"I would like to do this because many people in our country, particularly the young, watch everything on television and love the screen," Massie said.

To complete the video adaptation of her book, Massie said she plans to visit Moscow and St.

Petersburg in the fall. Massie also said she needs to work in the Tretyakov gallery and the Russian museum.

Massie helped Reagan prepare his meetings with Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev in 1980s.

"I believe that we need you and you need us," she said, adding that Russias "very different experience and strength could create a dynamic union."

Massie made Reagan aware of the Russian proverb "Trust but verify," which the former US president used and became one of the symbols of US-Soviet relations at the time of Perestroika.

Massie has published a number of books about Russia, including her memoir "Trust But Verify: Reagan, Russia and Me," "Pavlovsk: The Life of a Russian Palace" and "Journey."
