ABU DHABI, (Pakistan Point News - 01st Aug, 2018) The Abu Dhabi City Municipality, ADM, has called on owners of abandoned buildings in Abu Dhabi and suburban areas to take corrective actions in dealing with said structures in cooperation with the Municipality and other concerned parties.

In a press statement, the Municipality said that abandoned buildings distort the public appearance of the city and contribute to the pollution of the environment and the inconvenience of residents, besides the health hazards posed to nearby inhabitants.

As part of its ongoing crackdown on abandoned buildings, the Municipality has so far demolished 220 buildings and issued decisions to take down 272 others.

The Municipality is currently demolishing 37 abandoned buildings and has issued orders to repeal the demolition of 13 buildings. It also placed two buildings under examination.

The Municipality has also identified abandoned buildings in Abu Dhabi city and the environs of Musaffah and Al Wathba centres comprising shaded industrial plots, commercial outlets, residential buildings and communal housing.

ADM is studying these cases for further action in line with the applicable rules and regulations governing building works in the emirate.
