DP World marks Year of Zayed with Ramadan Community Initiatives

DUBAI, (Pakistan Point News - 05th Jun, 2018) In commemoration of the Holy Month of Ramadan and the Year of Zayed, DP World, UAE Region has launched a series of Ramadan initiatives that celebrate the season’s spirit of giving and Emirati cultural values. The programme includes donating to those in need, visiting elderly people and supporting DP World, UAE Region employees.

Over 3,300 Iftar meals are being distributed every day, a total of over 100,000 meals during Ramadan to DP World, UAE Region employees living in staff accommodation and workers of Jebel Ali Free Zone companies in collaboration with Emirates Red Crescent and Jafza customers. A team of volunteers are ensuring supplies such as water, dates and other foodstuffs are provided for workers breaking their fast after a day's work at the Free Zone gates.

As part of the Saheem Initiative, organised with the Dubai-based Royati Family Society, and backed by Emirates Red Crescent, DP World employees also donated 200 gift hampers each containing 15 kilograms of food items and other living essentials.

In partnership with the Community Development Authority, senior executives from DP World, UAE Region visited elderly people at the Thuker Club to celebrate Iftar.

Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Group Chairman and CEO, DP World, said, "We have always supported the social and cultural norms of the Emirati people. Our success is built on the extensive support we have received from our leadership and the community and we are delighted to help those in need with our initiatives during the Holy Month of Ramadan. We hope that this will encourage others to come forward with initiatives that contribute to society."

Engaging with the community is a major pillar of DP World’s Our World Our Future sustainability programme. Company employees are involved in a range of volunteering programmes in communities across its network in over 40 countries.
