CJP Nisar refuses to take salary in protest for PWD workers
Says he would not take his salary until the PWD employees are paid
Lahore (Pakistan Point News – 24th Apr, 2018) Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar has decided not to take his salary until the employees of Public Works Department (PWD) are paid.
A hearing on the issue of nonpayment to PWD workers was held by the chief justice in Supreme Court on Tuesday.
According to media reports, expressing his anger over nonpayment to PWD workers, CJP Nisar refused to take his own salary as well.
He said that he would not take his salary until the PWD employees are paid.
He went on to say that I will not receive my salary cheque until PWD workers across the country are not paid. Addressing additional registrar during the hearing, the chief justice said that this is my order; do not deposit a cheque in my account until salaries are paid to the PWD workers.
He said that he will first make sure that the PWD employees are paid and then order his staff to deposit his salary.
