MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 07th October, 2022) A law prohibiting the public reproduction or performance of songs by Russian artists, as well as their concert tours in Ukraine, went into force on Friday in Ukraine, according to the Ukrainian parliament.

The law "On amendments to certain laws of Ukraine on supporting the national musical product and restricting the public use of the musical product of the aggressor state" has been marked on the website of the Ukrainian parliament as "active" with the date of entry into force being October 7, 2022.

At the end of May, the Ukrainian parliament registered a bill banning the public performance of Russian music and video clips, as well as tours of Russian artists in the country. In June, the bill was adopted.

The Ukrainian government said it was planning to make exceptions for former Russian citizens who now have Ukrainian passports, as well as for those Russian artists that have condemned the Russian special operation in Ukraine.
