Senior officials of South Korea and the European Union's diplomatic office will hold a meeting next week to discuss their cooperation over North Korea's nuclear issue, the foreign ministry here said Thursday, Yonhap reported.

The meeting between Vice Foreign Minister Lim Sung-nam and Secretary General Helga Schmid of the EU's European External Action Service, which deals with diplomatic and defense issues, is slated for Monday.
The two sides will share their assessment of the latest security situation on the Korean Peninsula and discuss bilateral cooperation over the North Korean nuclear issue, according to the ministry.
Also to be discussed are ways to step up their diplomatic relations as the two sides mark the 55th anniversary of their diplomatic relationship this year, the ministry said. The upcoming event is a follow-up to Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha's attendance at the EU Foreign Affairs Council in Brussels, Belgium, last week, where she gave a briefing on the recent diplomatic developments on the Korean Peninsula and discussed cooperation between the two sides.
