Indonesian President Joko Widodo has condemned the US decision recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel
JAKARTA, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 07th Dec, 2017 ) :Indonesian President Joko Widodo has condemned the US decision recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and relocating its embassy there from Tel Aviv as it would further create instability in the middle East, Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi said on Thursday.
Xinhua news agency, quoting the Indonesian foreign minister, said President Widodo is scheduled to attend the extraordinary leaders' summit of Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) over the issue of Jerusalem.
"The OIC is scheduled to hold a summit on December 13. Indonesian president has expressed his clear statement. By God's willing the president would be there," the minister said during the 10th Bali Democracy Forum (BDF) held in a western Jakarta Convention Center.
The minister said she had coordinated with her counterparts in OIC member countries, adding that all of them rejected the recognition of US President Donald Trump over Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
The upcoming summit scheduled in Istanbul would reaffirm the stance of OIC countries over the recent development in Jerusalem and steps that would be taken by OIC to respond to Trump's action. Washington recognized the disputed city of Jerusalem as Israel's capital on Wednesday, and planned to move the US embassy to Jerusalem from Tel Aviv.
Marsudi said that Indonesia is a relentless supporter to Palestine, repeatedly called for the two-state solution that allowed the two states of Palestine and Israel to live together side-by-side in peace and harmony.
