SHENYANG, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd May, 2017 ) : Workers Monday completed another station on China's first high-speed railway linking Inner Mongolia with northeastern provinces.
The 197-km-long railway will run from Tongliao in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region to Xinmin in northeast China's Liaoning Province, with trains reaching speeds of up to 250 kilometers per hour.
After it begins operation next year, it will reduce the travel time between the two points to one and a half hours from the current five hours. Zhangwu station was completed on Monday morning. It took more than 1,300 workers six hours to move the 90-year-old former station to the west to connect it with the new line.
The railway aims to enhance economic and social exchange between Inner Mongolia and northeastern provinces and well as Beijing further south. It will shorten the travel time from Tongliao to Beijing from 14 hours to just three and a half hours.
