Cyprus, Egypt, Greece Agree Joint Efforts To Tackle Regional Challenges

Cyprus, Egypt and Greece have agreed to intensify efforts to tackle regional challenges such as terrorism and large movements of refugees and migrants, a joint statement by their leaders said on Tuesday
NICOSIA, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st Nov, 2017 ) :Cyprus, Egypt and Greece have agreed to intensify efforts to tackle regional challenges such as terrorism and large movements of refugees and migrants, a joint statement by their leaders said on Tuesday.
Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, at the fifth tripartite meeting of their countries, discussed energy issues, the migrant crisis, developments in countries of the region, including the situation in Lebanon, and called for the strengthening of Egypt's relations with the European Union.
In a joint declaration after a summit of the three countries, the countries called on transit countries to share information regarding foreign terrorist fighters with concerned states and international organizations, in particular Interpol.
"The expressed solidarity with the people and the government of Egypt... who are at the forefront of the efforts to fight terrorism both inside the country and in the region," the declaration said.
The joint declaration said that the three leaders agreed to strengthen their cooperation on the exploitation and transfer of natural gas discovered in the region, in the hope that hydrocarbons would serve as a catalyst for regional stability and prosperity.
