NEW DELHI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Aug, 2017 ) : At least three people were killed and more than eight others injured in a road accident in Indian occupied Kashmir on Wednesday.
"The accident occurred this morning when a passenger bus turned turtle near Rakha Ambpatti on the Jammu-Pathankot Highway in Samba district," local police chief Anil Mangotra told media men. While three people died on the spot, those injured have been admitted to a local hospital, the official said.
Local tv channels quoted eyewitnesses as saying that the bus was travelling at high speed and the accident occurred after the driver lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a curve on the highway.
The bus was on its way to Samba town from the border village of Checkwal. A probe has been ordered into the incident, the official added. India has the highest number of road fatalities in the world. Road accidents occur mostly due to poor driving or badly maintained roads and vehicles.
