UNITED NATIONS, United States, Feb 3 (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 03rd Feb, 2017 ) : The US ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley said Thursday there would be no lifting of US sanctions against Russia as long as the Crimean peninsula remains annexed by Moscow.
In her first public remarks to the Security Council, Haley asserted that sanctions imposed over the 2014 annexation would remain in place "until Russia returns control over the peninsula to Ukraine." The ambassador opened her remarks by stating that it was "unfortunate" that at her first appearance at the council, she was compelled to "condemn the aggressive actions of Russia."
