Chicago, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Mar, 2018 ) :China will face reigning Women's World Cup champion United States in June for the first time since snapping the Americans' 104-match home win streak in 2015, US Soccer announced Friday.
The Americans will entertain China on June 7 at Sandy, Utah, and June 12 at Cleveland, Ohio, in their first meeting since China spoiled US star striker Abby Wambach's farewell game with a 1-0 victory in 2015 at the New Orleans Superdome.
US women own a 34-9 with 13 drawn record against China, but the nine wins represent the second-most by any rival against the Americans, trailing only the 19 wins by Norway.
The Americans beat China 2-1 in the 1996 Atlanta Olympics final and in a penalty shootout to decide the 1999 Women's World Cup.
They edged China 1-0 in the 2015 Women's World Cup quarter-finals on Carli Lloyd's header. "Obviously, there's a great history between the countries and we always enjoy the matches against China," US coach Jill Ellis said.
"They bring a level of technical skill and tactical savvy that challenges us, which is what we need as we continue to prepare for World Cup qualifying in the fall." China's Steel Roses will chase one of three Asian berths at stake next month in Jordan to the 2019 Women's World Cup in France.
