ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 02nd Nov, 2017 ) :Like last year, the month of November this year too will pass dry and smoggy with no chances of any significant rain across the country resulting in delay of winter season to formally set in, said the weather experts.
The weather experts attributed the reasons for shortening winter season, lack of rain activities and prevalence of smoggy weather conditions to climatic changes, global warming, industrial pollutions and urbanization.
If we compare the rain pattern of winter season during the last few years, it is witnessing lesser rains and winter season is shrinking and summer is prolonging with passage of time, said Ruqqiya Mahmood, Assistant Meteorologist at Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
Talking to APP on Thursday, she said there were no chances of any significant rain during the whole month however light rain can occur at upper parts and northern areas which will be impact less.
To a question about non-issuance of any Smog advisory by PMD, she said there is no such advisory worth issuing for smog as some areas are witnessing completely fog and some others with more pollution were faced with smog.
She said winter season is shrinking with the passage of time and this year it will mainly spread on three months. During the next 24 hours, she said mainly dry weather will prevail in most parts of the country.
Continental air was prevailing over mostparts of the country. Foggy or Misty weather conditions are expected in plain areas of Punjab and upper Sindh during night and morning hours, decreasing visibility level.
The lowest minimum temperature recorded during the last 24 hours was -03 Celsius degree in Skardu. It is pertinent to mention here that health experts have advised the citizens to use precautionary measures like mask while going outside to prevent from the diseases like lungs ailment, flu, cough, allergies etc.
due to dust. The health experts have also advised the children to avoid unnecessary visits to dusty places and remain indoor most of times.
