Broadband For Sustainable Development Programme In Full Swing To Serve Unserved

Through the Broadband for Sustainable Development Programme, (USF) Ministry of IT & Telecom has been aggressively working to provide telecom services to the unserved Mauzas across the country after the issuance of 3G/4G licenses

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Mar, 2018 ) :Through the Broadband for Sustainable Development Programme, (USF) Ministry of IT & Telecom has been aggressively working to provide telecom services to the unserved Mauzas across the country after the issuance of 3G/4G licenses .

The spokesman of the ministry told APP, This programme was redesigned to include the broadband equivalent data (internet) services as a compulsory component and for new projects, powering of telecommunication sites through Solar energy was also made a part of each project.

The�Universal Service Fund Company (USF) has awarded three projects of broadband for sustainable development (BSD) worth over Rs. 1.8 billion. He further said that other contract worth Rs. 550 million of USF Broadband for Sustainable Development (BSD) project, DI Khan Lot encompassing DI Khan, FR D.I.

Khan and Tank was awarded to Telenor Pakistan (Pvt) Limited. He said through the project 3g mobile broadband services will be provided in the areas of Mohmand, Bajaur and Malakand ,having population of 1,599,500 residing in 684 muzas.

While giving details he told that in Khyber lot, 3G mobile broadband services are being provided in the areas of Khyber Agency, FR Kohat (Tribal Area Adjacent Kohat), FR Peshawar, Kohat, Karak and Hangu, the areas consist of population of 1,751,600 residing in 503 muzas.

In Dera Bugti lot, 3G mobile broadband services are being provided in the areas of Dera Bugti and Kohlu having population of 333,100 residing in 396 muzas. In Kharan-Washuk lot, 3G mobile broadband services are being provided in the areas of Kharan (Tehsil: Kharan) and Washuk (Besima and Washuk) having population of 222,000 residing in 289 muzas.

In Kohistan lot, 3G mobile broadband services are being provided in the areas of Kohistan,Batagram,Mansehra, Haripur And Abbotabad having population of 878,065 residing in 1,283 muzas. In Awaran-Lasbela lot, 3G mobile broadband services are being provided in the areas Awaran and Lasbela, having population of 196,177 residing in 269muzas.

In Khuzdar lot, 3G mobile broadband services are being provided in the areas of Khuzdar having population of 302,408 residing in 772 muzas. In Chagai lot, 3G mobile broadband services are being provided in the areas of Chagai (Naukundi, Chagai, Dalbadinand Taftan) including Kharan(Mashkhel) having population of 147,058 residing in 99 muzas.

In Kalat lot, 3G mobile broadband are being provided in the areas of Kalat,Gazg, Johan, Mandochar and Surabhaving population of 145,632 residing in 513 muzas. In Sibi lot, 3G mobile broadband are being provided in the areas of Sibi, KillaSaifullah, Loralai and Barkhan having population of 484,311 residing in 505 muzas.

In Shangla lot, 3G mobile broadband are being provided in the areas of Shangla, Buner (Dagar), and Swat, having population of 810,685 residing in 154 muzas. In Zhob lot, 3G mobile broadband are being provided in the areas of Zhob, Sherani and Musakhel, having population of 415,691 residing in 330 muzas.

In Chitral lot, mobile services are being provided in the areas of Chitral, Upper Dir and lower Dir, having population of 1,238,520 residing in 1173muzas.
