A group of lawyers on Wednesday assaulted the emergency room in Pakistan's Punjab Institute of Cardiology in the city of Lahore, vandalized the property, burned a police car and attacked Punjab Provincial Minister for Information Fayyaz ul Hasan Chohan, media reported

According to the sources, the people died after the doctors and paramedical staff left the ICU and other wards of the emergency bloc to  save their lives from angry lawyers.

Prime Minister Imran Khan has taken notice of violent lawyers' attack at the Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) and summoned report from Punjab Chief Secretary (CS) Azam Suleiman Khan and Inspector General Police (IGP) Shoaib Dastagir

The PM also directed the Punjab Chief Minister to immediately reach the spot and resolve the issue between lawyers and the doctors.

The minister asked police for help but nobody came to rescue him.

Police used water cannons and tear gas to disperse the lawyers but they ran to Jilani Park –the neighboring park adjacent to PIC to use it as their camp against the administration of the hospital.

The lawyers broke the main entrance gate, disrupted several ongoing operations of serious cardiac patients and left hundreds of other patients helpless at Punjab Institute of Cardiology---the only state of the art hospital for cardiac patients in Lahore.
