SECP Holds Registrars' Conference

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 29th july, 2016) : The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) has held a two-day registrars' conference here on the theme of "Emerging Challenges and the Way-Forward".
The conference was attended by the registrars working at the head office, Islamabad, and the company registration offices of the SECP located across the country, performing their statutory functions under the law, said a statement here on Friday. The objectives of the conference were sharing of ideas and knowledge among the SECP's registrars to meet the existing and emerging challenges and finding solutions to overcome obstacles.
In his inaugural speech, Zafar Hijazi, the SECP chairman, highlighted the importance of public facilitation and adoption of standardized procedures by all CROs to achieve uniformity and emphasized the importance of sharing of ideas between registrars.
The topics and areas of discussion included sharing of best global practices, reforming legislative environment, technological enhancements towards paperless environment, and streamlining of procedures for uniformity of practices.
The conference provided a platform for sharing of experiences among registrars and explained their responsibilities towards the functions performed. In the concluding remarks, Tahir Mehmood, the Commissioner, Company Law Division, guided them to find solutions to emerging challenges in the light of new developments in technology and public facilitation regime.
